SKNTVET COUNCIL’S MONTH OF TECHNICAL AND VOCATIONAL EDUCATION AWARENESS OFFICIALLY UNDERWAY

Basseterre: St. Kitts, Tuesday, November 04, 2025: The St. Kitts and Nevis Technical, Vocational and Education and Training Secretariat Council (SKNTVETC) officially launched the second annual TVET Awareness Month on Monday, November 03 at the Solid Waste Management Corporation Conference Room.

Extending welcome remarks, Mr. Terry Hanley, Dean, Technical and Vocational Education and Management Studies at CFBC, expressed

“This year, we are celebrating and promoting the essential work of TVET under the powerful and highly pertinent theme: ‘TVET at the Heart of Development: Empowering Lives, Enriching Communities’, a theme that perfectly encapsulates the vital and transformative role that Technical and Vocational Education and Training plays not only in the classroom but in our nation’s socioeconomic growth.”

Standards and Promotions Officer in the TVET Secretariat, Mrs. Samantha Bloice, who provided a brief overview of the month’s activities stated.

“Throughout the month of November, our mission is clear – to shine a national spotlight on the value of skills, the strength of our training institutions, and the life-changing opportunities that Technical and Vocational Education and Training continues to create across St. Kitts and Nevis. TVET is not just training. It is empowerment, opportunity, economic mobility, and nation-building.”

Ms. Phoebe Smithen, a Level 1 graduate of the NVQ-SKN Electrical Installation Programme communicated the transformative role of TVET in her life after enrolling in the program.

Permanent Secretary Mrs. Lisa-Roymane Pistana noted that the activities will go a long way in the Federation’s TVET journey.

“During this month we pause to celebrate the significance of skills in our nation’s development, the progress of our people, and the promise of a brighter, more sustainable future for St. Kitts and Nevis. I extend sincere gratitude to the educators, assessors, verifiers, employers, students, and partners – locally, regionally, and internationally who continue to champion the cause of TVET in our nation. Together, let us build a future where skills are valued, opportunities are inclusive, and our people are empowered to contribute to our sustainable development goals.”

Certificates were awarded to eighteen (18) individuals who successfully completed their on-sight TVET training in Caribbean and Vocational Qualification (CVQ) Assessment Level 4 from the Grenada National Training Agency. Six (6) individuals also received certificates for completing the CDEMA Sponsored Construction Site Supervision Level 3 from the Sector Skills Development Agency in St. Vincent.
